A day in the life of a management consultant has been compiled by consultants with experience of working at Monitor Deloitte, L.E.K Consulting, McKinsey and Company and The Boston Consulting Group.

Check emails on way into the office. Get in for 9 and answer any important emails over breakfast at my desk. We have a two hour client workshop at 11 so I run over to my manager and check what last minute edits need to be done to our PowerPoint presentation. We are helping our client to plan for the launch of a new product. We use the workshop to challenge the client to define the key initiatives and timeline to launch. I then grab a quick lunch and start to summarise the workshop and edit our presentation based on the new information we gathered. A quick team meeting at 3pm to decide upon our next call with the client and what we want to send him by when. I go back to my desk and produce a resourcing model on Excel - we want to show the client how many new members of staff they may need to hire for the product launch and the estimated cost. I finish up the model before heading off home at 8. Tomorrow morning I will pick up on editing the list of initiatives and milestones that we want the client to think about.
